The six grahas whose transits carry meaning
Gochara is only meaningful for bodies that stay put long enough to describe a period of your life, so the table leads with the six slow-moving grahas and omits the three fast ones. It also lists Uranus, Neptune and Pluto underneath, for context only: they fall outside the classical nine grahas, so they are shown with their sign and nothing else — no gochara note, no Sade Sati label and no degree-exact contacts.

Why the Moon, Mercury and Venus are not listed
The Moon changes sign every two and a quarter days; Mercury and Venus change within weeks and spend part of the year retrograde. A page that told you the Moon's transit sign would be wrong before you finished reading it. Anything described as your "current" transits that includes the Moon is telling you about this afternoon, not this period of your life.
Degree-exact contacts, not just sign changes
Most transit tools stop at the sign: "Saturn is in your 10th house." That is true for two and a half years, which makes it useless for timing. We go one step further and check, by degree, whether a transiting planet is actually making contact with one of your natal planets — a conjunction, an opposition, or a special drishti — within a 5° orb. A contact is labelled by how tight it is: exact, tightly close within 1°, very close within 3°, or close within 5°. That is the difference between "Saturn is in your 10th this year" and "Saturn is sitting on your natal Sun this fortnight, 0°40' away."
Special drishti, applied by degree
In classical Parasari astrology every planet aspects the house opposite it, but Mars, Jupiter and Saturn cast additional special aspects: Mars on the 4th and 8th from itself, Jupiter on the 5th and 9th, Saturn on the 3rd and 10th. We apply those the same way we apply a conjunction — the aspect has to land on a natal planet within 5° by degree, not merely fall somewhere in the sign. Rahu and Ketu are given only conjunction and opposition here. Whether the nodes cast special aspects is genuinely disputed in the classical literature, and we would rather leave out a contested rule than quietly ship one side of the argument as fact.
Counted from your Lagna and from your Moon
Every transit row shows two house numbers, not one. The first is counted from your natal Lagna, the second from your natal Moon sign — the Chandra lagna, which is the classical reference for gochara and the one most Indian readings actually use. They frequently disagree, and the disagreement is informative: a transit that is difficult from the Lagna but supportive from the Moon reads very differently from one that is hard from both.
Sade Sati, with its phase named
When Saturn transits the 12th, 1st or 2nd from your natal Moon, the row is labelled Sade Sati along with which of the three phases you are in — rising, peak or setting. The phase matters more than the label: the rising phase, with Saturn in the 12th, tends toward expense and disturbed sleep; the peak, with Saturn on the Moon sign itself, is the period of maximum constraint; the setting phase eases the pressure but keeps finances and speech under strain. Knowing you are two years into a setting phase is a different piece of information from being told you are simply "in Sade Sati."

Transits are computed fresh for the current date every time and never cached — the whole point is the sky as it is now, not as it was when someone last updated a page.

Check the Note column first
That column carries the classical labels and the degree-exact contacts together. If it is empty for a planet, that planet is passing through without touching anything natal — which is itself worth knowing.
Positions are sidereal, using the Pushya-paksha ayanamsha, the same reckoning as every other chart on this site. Aspects target a whole sign and are then filtered by a 5° degree window — so a transit 4° away by raw arc but on the far side of a sign boundary is correctly not counted as a contact.
Questions about gochara
- What is gochara, exactly?
- Gochara is the Sanskrit term for the transit of planets — where the planets are in the sky right now — read against your natal chart rather than in isolation. The natal chart shows the promise; gochara is one of the two classical tools for timing when that promise activates, the other being the dasha system. Neither is read alone: a supportive transit during an unsupportive dasha rarely delivers much, and the reverse is a period of opportunity that is easy to miss.
- Is this actually free, and do I need an account?
- Yes, and no. The transit table appears as soon as you enter birth details, with no sign-up, no credits and nothing locked. It is shown automatically alongside your charts rather than being something you have to ask for. You only need an account if you want to save a profile so you do not have to re-enter birth details next time.
- Why a 5° orb, and what does the orb number mean?
- The orb is how far apart the transiting planet and your natal planet are, measured in degrees within their signs. Five degrees is a deliberately tight window — many Western tools use eight or ten — because a wide orb flags so many contacts that none of them mean anything. The number shown next to each contact is the exact gap, in degrees and arcminutes. Smaller is stronger: an exact hit is doing something now, a 4°30' contact is background.
- How do I know if I am in Sade Sati?
- Enter your birth details and look at the Saturn row. If Saturn is currently transiting the 12th, 1st or 2nd house from your natal Moon, the row will say so and name the phase. This is checked against your natal Moon sign, not your Sun sign or your Western star sign — Sade Sati is defined from the Moon, which is why Sun-sign-based checks elsewhere give different answers.
- Why does another site show different transit houses than you do?
- Almost always one of two reasons. First, ayanamsha: sidereal Vedic positions differ from tropical Western ones by roughly 24°, which is nearly a whole sign, so a tropical site will often show a planet one sign ahead. Second, the reference point: houses counted from the Lagna and houses counted from the Moon give different numbers for the same transit, and many sites show only one without saying which. We show both, labelled.
